Skoda Auto India retails 17% Y-o-Y growth in September 2022

Skoda Auto India achieved its highest sales figure in September 2022, when compared to September 2021. In fact, 2022 has been the biggest year in India for the Czech brand to achieve its highest ever sales between January-August 2022. The brand credits local research and development, along with the highly localised MQB A0 IN platform as the reason behind this success.

Skoda Auto India sold 3,543 cars in September 2022. Earlier, in September 2021, the Czech brand retailed 3,027 units, thus registering a 17% Y-o-Y growth last month. This comes fresh on the heels of its biggest year in India, for the brand achieved its highest ever annual sales between January and August 2022.
This feat has been possible for both its newly launched products, the Slavia mid-size sedan and the Kushaq compact SUV are highly localised products. And this has helped the brand bring down its cost of production, and thus pitch its products as affordable options.

“We are absolutely delighted to continue the success story of Skoda’s Biggest Year in India. This is an excellent result and a great recognition of all the hard work of our team and dealer partners,” said the newly appointed brand director of Skoda Auto India, Petr Solc.
“The Kushaq and Slavia models have been successfully established in the market and drive the sales impetus. In addition, our D-segment products like the Octavia and Superb are leading their respective categories. Our focus is now on further enhancing customer satisfaction and increasing Skoda customer touchpoints across India,” he further added.
In December 2021, Skoda Auto India had 175 touchpoints and that has expanded up to 205+ touchpoints now. The brand plans to hit 250 showrooms by the end of 2022.
As for its localisation, the brand credits the MQB A0 IN platform which underpins both the Slavia and Kushaq SUV. The 95% localised platform, coupled with local components, local research and development of the products have helped bring down the cost of ownership as low as Rs 0.46 per kilometre. This has attracted new customers and has further enhanced its sales figures.
Currently, India ranks the third largest global market for Skoda Auto cars. Our country ranks after Germany and the Czech Republic. Earlier in 2022, the company also modernised all its showrooms to fully digitalised ones with interactive features, that further enhance the customer’s buying experience.
