Raksha Bandhan Box Office: Akshay Kumar's film sees no upward graph on day 3 despite festive weekend

Raksha Bandhan seems to be struggling at the box office as it has just touched the 20 Cr plus mark after three days in theatre. The numbers seem rather disappointing despite the weekend and the ongoing festive fever around. The movie minted Rs 6.51 Cr on day 3, making the total to Rs 21.11 Cr.

Akshay Kumar starrer Raksha Bandhan did not have a very impressive opening as it earned 8.20 Cr on day 1. With the long weekend and festivities going on, it was expected that the biz would go up in the days to come, however, the day 2 saw no growth either, in fact, witnessed a slight downfall as it collected 6.40 Cr on Friday.
With a very minimalistic growth on Saturday, the day 3 box office collection for Raksha Bandhan is 6.51 Cr. That, makes the three day total for the Akshay Kumar film ₹ 21.11 cr.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote, "#RakshaBandhan shows no upturn on Day 3... Remains in the same range as Day 2, despite the weekend factor... 3-day total is definitely distressing... Needs to gather speed on the two big days [Sun-Mon]... Thu 8.20 cr, Fri 6.40 cr, Sat 6.51 cr. Total: ₹ 21.11 cr. #India biz."

The movie also features Bhumi Pednekar, Sadia Khateeb, Sahejmeen Kaur, Smrithi Srikanth, Deepika Khanna, among others.
Meanwhile, Aanand L Rai, the director of the movie, did react to the film being called regressive. He went on to say how he understands that we should be very progressive and it is something one cannot ignore. However, he also mentioned that a lot of things need to be taken care of and one cannot shut their eyes off. He added how not talking about it will not give anyone a solution.
He further told News18, "As a maker, I can’t write articles, I can’t make documentaries. My only way of expressing myself is through films. So, if you feel there is something regressive about this, that means there is time to correct our society."
Meanwhile, Raksha Bandhan clashed at the box office with Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. So far, the latter has done better business, however, it has also been dull.
