Mumbai: Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Thursday took a veiled dig at dig at cousin Shiv Sena supremo and his cousin Uddhav Thackeray, who quit as chief minister of Maharashtra after Eknath Shinde along with other Sena legislatures revolted.
"When anyone misunderstands one's good fortune as one's personal accomplishment; "therein begins the journey towards one's decline," Raj Thackeray tweeted.
The MNS chief's tweet is being viewed as a veiled attack on his cousin, who lost the top post after his confidante Shinde and majority of the Sena MLAs accused Uddhav of diverting from the Hindutva issue and giving an upper hand to NCP and Congress in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government.
Raj Thackeray had formed his own outfit in 20226 after Uddhav was chosen as the Sena chief. Many in the political circle, Raj was seen as a natural heir to his late uncle Balasaheb Thackeray.
Uddhav Thackeray on June 29 night resigned as Maharashtra CM, after Supreme Court refused to stay Governor BS Koshyari's direction to the MVA government to take a floor test in the state Assembly.
Taking aim at Shine and other rebel Sena MLAs, Uddhav in a video address said, "People who were bestowed with positions by the Shiv Sena are now claiming to be angry with the party. Those who have been given so much are angry today. The common Sainiks who have received nothing stand solidly behind the party."
Meanwhile, Uddhav faces an uphill tasks of revitalising Shiv Sena as Shinde has claimed that his group were the "real Shiv Sainiks". "We are Balasaheb Thackeray's Shiv Sainiks. We will take forward the Hindutva ideology," he had said while eaving from Guwahati.
