It can't get any bigger than this! Akshay Kumar's Raksha Bandhan is all set to clash with Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha. The two superstars are set for a fierce box-office competition next week. While Aamir Khan's Hindi adaptation of Hollywood classic - Forrest Gump stars Kareena Kapoor.
Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar are shouldering Raksha Bandhan on their shoulders. However, Khan's film already seems to have moved ahead in the BO race a bit. As per reports, Aamir's film is expected to collect close to Rs 8 crore in advance bookings. On the other hand, Akshay's film has a lower advance booking rate comparatively and might just manage to collect Rs 3 crore nett plus, says a BoxofficeIndia report.
Akshay's film has still managed to open better than his previous two films, Bachchan Pandey and Samrat Prithviraj. The holiday week that comprises of Raksha Bandan and Independence Day is expected to bring in more footfall for these two titans.
Akshay Kumar had earlier said that the festive week might work in the favour of the film's releasing together. “It’s a good week and it has two-three holidays. I think, two releases can work easily in this week. The COVID pandemic was there for almost two and a half years, so two or three films releasing in a week is inevitable,” Khiladi Kumar had said in an interview.
When posed with the same question, Aamir too resonated with similar thoughts. The Dangal actor revealed that he liked the trailer of Raksha Bandhan. He added that the film is relevant to common man who faces economic issues on a day-to-day life. Khan had also said in an interview that he hopes the film is well made as it is an interesting topic.
If reports are to be believed, Aamir's film has headed for blockbuster pricing for the much-anticipated film. Owing to the festive period and the clash with Raksha Bandhan, the makers have reportedly upped the ticket cost as they feel the audience wouldn't mind splurging a bit on this one.
