New Delhi: The national commission for women has issued a notice to Congress leader Udit Raj for his demeaning tweet against President Droupadi Murmu. In his tweet Udit Raj says, No country should get a president like Droupadi Murmu, adding that there are limits to ‘chamchagiri (blindly supporting someone).
Rekha Sharma, president of the NCW has trashed his comments and said that his tweet is ‘highly objectionable’. In her tweet she mentions that the statement is against the Supreme power of the country and a woman who with her sheer hard work has reached her position.
This is not the first time Udit Raj has raked up such a controversy. He has done this earlier as well. Many have slammed his statement saying that she holds a very senior constitutional position and the language used by the congress leader is highly inappropriate. However, Udit Raj has refused to apologise for his statement. Reiterating that his comments do not represent the Congress party which he belongs to but are his as an individual he added that he has the right to question her.
In a tweet defending his actions, Udit Raj has said, “I asked the question from Draupadi Murmu ji as a SC/ST which others can’t.”
