KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • 4 Indian players are playing Royal London One-Day Cup
  • Washington Sundar and Navdeep Saini made their debuts on day 2 of the tournament
  • Sundar played a key role in Lancashire's win
The Royal London One-Day Cup action continued in England with a few Indian players also in action in the tournament. The 50-over matches are being played along with The Hundred and many star players aren't part of the List A tournament.
Among Indians, Cheteshwar Pujara, Krunal Pandya, Navdeep Saini and Washington Sundar are 4 players who are plying their trade in the tournament. While Pujara and Krunal were in action on the opening day, the rest of the two players took the field on the 2nd day on Thursday (August 4). Here's how they fared on their debut in the tournament -
Washington Sundar
Washington Sundar, who has also played county matches for Lancashire, played his part in the win and bowled a tidy spell of 10-0-35-1. He supported other bowlers quite well as Lancashire bowled out Yorkshire for 224 in 48.3 overs. Sundar also shone with the bat and remained unbeaten on 30 off 38.
The youngster is eyeing a return in the national team. While he has already been recalled in the ODI team, Sundar surely wants a spot in the T20I squad for World Cup as well. As per a report in PTI, he isn't in contention for a spot in the squad for the ICC event.
Navdeep Saini
Navdeep Saini played for Kent in county matches and made his List A debut for them on August 4. The right-arm pacer didn't quite have a memorable debut as he went for 61 runs in his 10-over spell. He did start on a positive note and dismissed Sam Northeast on the 4th ball of Glamorgan's innings. But he didn't manage a wicket after that.
Glamorgan rode on Colin Ingram's century to chase down a big target of 305 with 10 balls and 3 wickets left.
