Guyana Amazon Warriors' outstanding run of four wins in as many matches came to a stuttering halt in the first qualifier of the 2022 edition of the Caribbean Premier League as the best team in the competition Barbados Royals blew them away. Warriors, who have always been a bridesmaid and never been a bride having come second in the final five times, would want to reach the summit clash and go all the way.

Warriors will be up against Jamaica Tallawahs for a place in the final of the CPL 2022. Tallawahs have blown hot and cold in the tournament but they will be happy to get through to the second qualifier after a scrape in the eliminator led by Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. Nabi with a 31* off 15 and three wickets with the ball single-handedly led Tallawahs to a hard-fought win over the Saint Lucia Kings.
