Weather Update: Intense rainfall spell likely over Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand till October 8; check complete IMD forecast here

New Delhi: Several parts of India are likely to receive rainfall during the next few days. As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), an intense rainfall spell is expected over Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand till October 8. Heavy rainfall is also predicted over Odisha, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh during the next three days.

A low pressure area lies over Westcentral Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast. It is very likely to move west-northwestwards towards Andhra Pradesh coast during the next few hours.

The MeT Department predicted heavy showers over the eastern part of the country, including Odisha, Bihar ad Sikkim. "Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls very likely over Odisha and Chhattisgarh during 04th-06th; West Bengal & Sikkim and Jharkhand on 04th; Bihar on 04th & 05th; West Madhya Pradesh on 06th & 07th; East Madhya Pradesh during 04th- 07th October, 2022," the IMD said.

Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are likely to receive heavy rainfall during the next few days. The weather agency said, "Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Uttarakhand during 06th- 08th; West Uttar Pradesh during 05th– 08th; East Uttar Pradesh during 04th– 08th October, 2022."

Meanwhile, Isolated very heavy rainfall is very likely over Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh on October 6 and 8 and over East Uttar Pradesh till Friday. Isolated extremely heavy falls are also likely over Uttrakhand and northwest Uttar Pradesh on October 7.

Southern states of India, including Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, are expected to receive isolated heavy falls during the next few days. "Fairly widespread/widespread light/moderate rainfall with isolated heavy falls & thunderstorm/lightning very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during 04th- 06th; Telangana on 05th & 06th; Rayalaseema and South Interior Karnataka on 08th; over north Tamilnadu on 07th & 08th October, 2022," the IMD said in its weather bulletin.

Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam are also likely to receive isolated very heavy rainfall on Wednesday. Heavy rainfall is also predicted over several northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh, till October 8.
