Thane: 60-year-old man killed by building inmate on suspicion of mobile theft in Bhiwandi

Bhiwandi: In a shocking incident reported from Bhiwandi area of Thane district in Maharashtra, a 60-year-old man was murdered on suspicion of mobile and watch theft. The deceased has been identified as Iqbal Ansari.
The accused hit the victim with a hard object leading to the victim's death. The accused has now been arrested by the police. He is identified by police as Sherbahadur Singh (35), a resident of Jaunpur district in Uttar Pradesh.
The accused was working at a powerloom unit in Bhiwandi. He was residing in the building with other workers. The deceased also lived in the same building, according to a report in Times of India.
On August 9, Ansari's body was found at Khan Compound in Bhiwandi, said Shantinagar police official. Later, a case was filed in connection with the murder.
A team was formed by police who found the accused Sherbahadur hiding at shut powerloom unit on Thursday.
The police suspicion fell on him as the accused had gone missing. The accused told police he suspected that Ansari stole his mobile phone and watch from the staff room.
In a similar incident reported from Delhi in June this year, a man was beaten to death on suspicion of being a thief. Police later arrested five persons in connection with the lynching of the man.
The crime took place in Deep Vihar area of Rohini when the victim entered an under-construction building on June 15. The deceased was identified as 28-year-old Sanjay, a resident of Mongolpuri.
