Russia Absorbs Four Ukrainian Regions
Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky said that three villages in the country's southern Kherson region had been recaptured from Russian troops. Meanwhile, dozens of firefighters rushed to douse blazes in a town near Kyiv following multiple strikes caused officials by Iranian-made loitering munitions, often known as 'kamikaze drones'.
Elon Musk- Twitter Deal Back On
Another twist in the Twitter-Musk saga... Twitter shares fall 3% at the open after the Billionaire, Elon Musk changed his mind about buying Twitter, again, and is now willing to proceed with his takeover of the social media platform. The surprise reversal comes just weeks before the two sides were due in court. Twitter, which had sued Mr Musk to force the takeover to move forward, was seen as having the stronger case. Twitter said that it received the letter from Musk, and said it intends to close the buyout deal at the agreed-on price of $54.20 per share. He said in July that he was cancelling the purchase because he was misled by Twitter concerning the number of fake "bot" accounts, allegations rejected by the company.
North Korea Fires More Missiles
North Korea fired two short-range ballistic missiles into the waters off the east coast of the Korean Peninsula, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The move is likely to escalate tensions in the area after a series of shows of military might this week. Originating from the Samsok area of North Korea's capital, it was North Korea's sixth ballistic missile launch event in the past two weeks.
SpaceX Launches Crew-5 Mission For NASA
SpaceX launched four people to the International Space Station from Florida. The mission for NASA, known as Crew-5 will bring the group up to the space station for a six-month stay in orbit. The mission is SpaceX's fifth operational crew launch for NASA to date and the company's eighth human spaceflight in just over two years.
