68th National Film Awards Suriya bags top honor for his performance in Soorarai Pottru

After winning millions of hearts with his extraordinary performance in Soorarai Pottru, the South star Suriya received an honourary mention as best actor for his film at the 68th National Awards ceremony today.

Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn also bagged the best actor for his role in the epic period drama Tanhaji, which also starred Kajol in a pivotal role.

The prestigious ceremony is taking place at Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The awards were announced on July 22. Talking about other awardees, Aparna Balamurali won the best actress for her exceptional role in Soorarai Pottru. Congratulations are pouring in abundance for the actors.

Yes, you read that right. Social media is flooded with congratulatory messages and tweets for the actors who received these honourary mentions. Fans are dropping love and heart emojis below the national award pictures, bagged by the stars, and trending them heavily on social media.

Ajay and Suriya had earlier penned heartfelt notes after the winners were announced on July 22. The actors received the awards from President Draupadi Murmu and Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Anurag Singh Thakur.

About Soorarai Pottru

The film was directed by Sudha Kongara. The masterpiece was released on Amazon Prime Video in November. The movie was streamed and dubbed in Kannada and Malayalam. According to reports, it is the third highest-rated film on IMDb with a 9.1 rating.

Along with Suriya and Aparna, the film will starred Paresh Rawal, Urvashi, Mohan Babu, and Karans in pivotal roles. Suriya recently announced that he will make the remake of the film in Hindi under his production house.
