A British man, 48, broke the Guinness World Record for the heaviest deadlift with one finger by pulling off a 285.49 pound or 129.49 kg deadlift.
Steve Keeler, a martial artist, used his middle finger to lift six iron weight discs in Ashford, Kent, Guinness World Records announced.
Keeler says he has been practising karate ever since he was 18 but only took up strength training around four years ago.
During one of his training sessions, the Briton lifted weights using a single finger and discovered that the world record was only about 10 kgs heavier than what he had lifted at the time.
That’s when the fitness junkie set his eyes on the Guinness World Record.
In his successful attempt, Keeler broke the world record of 268.3 pounds or 121.69 kgs, achieved by Armenian Benik Israyelyan back in 2012..
Keeler told the record-keeping organisation that he dedicated the achievement to the memory of his late stepfather.
"He was into his strength training, and this record would be in honour of all he taught me. He'd be absolutely chuffed to bits," he said.
In a far less conventional but extraordinary achievement, a Welsh man broke the Guinness World Record for most pubs visited in 24 hours after he drank at least one beverage at 56 different pubs in Cardiff in the required time.
Gareth Murphy, took the pub crawl world record of 51 from fellow UK man Matt Ellis, Guinness World Records confirmed.
“It was a long, tiring day. The hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life,” he told Guinness.
