Choreographer Ganesh Acharya accused of stalking, harrasment and voyeurism in a case filed by co-dancer in 2020

Popular Bollywood choreographer Ganesh Acharya who has given innumerable feet-tapping dance numbers to the country is in deep legal trouble. The choreographer has been charged with sexual harassment, stalking, and voyeurism according to a case filed by a co-dancer in 2020.

The choreographer had recently choreographed Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Allu Arjun's popular track Oo Antava for Pushpa: The Rise.

According to a few reports, the Mumbai police filed a charge sheet against the choreographer and his assistant. The charge sheet reportedly accuses the choreographer and his assistant under the following sections of the Indian Penal Code. He has been charged with 354-a (sexual harassment), 354-c (voyeurism), 354-d (stalking), 509 (insulting the modesty of any woman), 323 (causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (common intention to commit an offense).

According to a report in Hindustan Times, Oshiwara police officer Sandeep Shinde, who has investigated the above-mentioned complaint revealed that the charge sheet was filed in the court of the Metropolitan magistrate in Andheri.

Reports say, when contacted, the assistant choreographer was informed that the charge sheet has been filed. Ganesh, however, has refused to comment on the allegations. Denying the charges, he called them "false and baseless."

As stated in the charge sheet and the filed complaint, the co-dancer alleged that Ganesh was harassing her as she turned down his sexual advances. She even accused the choreographer of making lewd comments, showing her porn, and molesting her.

She also stated that in May 2019, he allegedly told her if she wanted to succeed, she will have to have sex with him. Following the same, the Indian Film and Television Choreographer Association terminated her membership in six months.

Earlier in 2020, an FIR was filed by the Mumbai police based on the complaint stated by that assistant choreographer. Ganesh's legal team had stated that they have filed a defamation case against her.
