Coimbatore: In yet another shocking incident, unknown people have been arrested by Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore Rural District Police for raping, sexually assaulting, and impregnating a woman with a disability.
The lady has given birth twice, according to police sources, and investigators are trying to determine if she was raped by one person or several. A complaint has been filed in accordance with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act's sections 376(2)(1) and 92(b).
The woman and her children will be subjected to a DNA test in an effort to identify and apprehend the culprits, news agency IANS reported.
In an abandoned shelter near Thondamathur, the 29-year-old woman was residing with her father, who is a rag collector. In 2020, the mother gave birth to a child, who was handed to the social welfare department for adoption.
According to the police, the 64-year-old father and his daughter moved to another incomplete house in Ranga Nagar near Perur in the rural district of Coimbatore but did not report the sexual assault, IANS reported.
Police only started investigating the case after locals informed them that the woman had once again had a girl in March 2022.
In accordance with IPC Sections 376 (2)(1) and 92 (b), the district social welfare officer submitted a written complaint regarding the woman's rape and sexual abuse. The woman was unwilling to file a complaint, according to the police, and this may be because the culprit is a well-known individual.
