7-month pregnant woman suffers miscarriage after being ‘thrashed, dragged on road' by husband and in-laws in Ludhiana

Ludhiana: A seven-month pregnant woman suffered a miscarriage after she was allegedly thrashed by her husband and in-laws under Mullanpur Dakha police limits in the Ludhiana district of Punjab.
The Ludhiana Rural Police have registered a complaint against the 22-year-old victim Rajandeep Kaur’s husband and in-laws for causing miscarriage.
The accused have been identified as Jaskaran Singh of Manakwal village, his father Didar Singh, mother Paramjit Kaur and Aarti Gupta, with whom Jasakran was allegedly having an affair.
In her complaint, Rajandeep Kaur, a resident of Dakh village under in Ludhiana district, said that she married the accused Jaskaran Singh eight months ago. Soon after the marriage, the accused started harassing her for dowry, following which she moved back to her maternal home, reported Hindustan Times.
The victim also alleged that her husband was having an illicit relationship with a woman--also named in the FIR-- and when she objected to it, the accused used to beat her. Jaskaran had allegedly attacked Rajandeep in front of her mother over the issue on July 16.
Rajandeep further stated that Jaskaran and her in-laws went to her maternal home on August 17, stood outside, and started abusing her. When she came out of the house to stop them from abusing her, the accused attacked her and also allegedly dragged her on the road but fled the spot after she raised an alarm, the police complaint added as reported by HT.
Her parents immediately rushed her to a local hospital, where the doctors found that she suffered a miscarriage. She then filed a police complaint.
Assistant sub-inspector Satpal, investigating officer said that a case under sections 316 (causing death of unborn child), 498-A (dowry), 120-B (criminal conspiracy) and 34 (acts done by several in furtherance of a common international) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered against the accused at Mullanpur Dakha police station and a manhunt has been launched to arrest the accused, reported HT.
