The Muslim League in Kerala's Mallappuram recently locked a teacher inside a classroom after he allegedly asked a student to dress up as Veer Savarkar on Independence Day. According to reports, the organization has also requested that the school's headmaster take strict action against the teacher. This comes just days after a man in Karnataka's Shivamogga removed Savarkar-related posters."Before Mahatma Gandhi, Savarkar was the first student in India to organize a "bonfire of foreign clothes" and a boycott of foreign goods in 1905. Unfortunately, we are demonizing someone (Savarkar) who was at the forefront of India's freedom struggle at the same time we are celebrating 'Azaadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.'
