Mumbai: The Shiv Sena, on Tuesday, taunted the Devendra Fadnavis-led state unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and questioned if the 'Modi wave is over'. In an editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana, Shiv Sena questioned why Maharashtra Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis was seeking votes in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray.
"Two days ago, while seeking votes for BMC elections, you sought votes in the name of Balasaheb Thackeray. You want to defeat Shiv Sena, and are using the name of Balasaheb Thackeray to do that. Is your Modi wave, Modi era over? You want the BMC Mayor to be from BJP and the Shinde faction has agreed to this..." the Saamana editorial read.
They want to swallow Mumbai: Shiv Sena
Slamming the Shinde faction as 'betrayers', the Saamana editorial said that the country and the Hindu culture is in 'serious trouble' if BJP trusts Eknath Shinde supporters as 'genuine' individuals. "The era of Advani and Vajpayee is long gone. The BJP of that era would keep its promises," the editorial said.
Referring to the 2019 Assembly elections in Maharashtra, where the Shiv Sena and BJP disagreed to form a government with a Shiv Sena CM, the Saamana editorial alleged that people who 'forgot Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Advani' are now talking about fulfilling Balasaheb Thackeray's dream. "They just want to swallow Mumbai. But Shiv Sena is the power of people and the chief ministership of the Shinde faction is a mere bubble. We will soon bury those who betrayed Shiv Sena," the editorial read.
