Udaipur tailor murder: Two prime accused sent to judicial custody till July 13

Udaipur District Sessions court on Thursday sent the two accused-Riyaz Akhtari and Gous Mohammad-to judicial custody till July 13 for allegedly murdering Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Kumar.

Riyaz Akhtari and Gous Mohammad, the two prime accused in the murder of Udaipur tailor Kanhaiya Lal, were sent to judicial custody till July 13 by Udaipur district session court in Rajasthan on Thursday.
Protesting the tailor's murder, thousands of people shut their shops in Jaipur. Reports suggested that the internet will remain suspended in Udaipur for the next 24 hours. Special Prosecuter Kapil Todawat told the media outside the court that the accused seemed remorseless when they were produced before magistrate.
On Thursday, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot said the whole country was shaken by what happened in Udaipur. "This is a heinous crime, with no forgiveness. Police did good work, nabbed them quickly. It's a matter of terror. NIA was called. Everyone is enraged. We're appealing for peace to be maintained," ANI quoted Ashok Gehlot ass saying.

The victim Kanhaiya Lal was receiving threats after his alleged post in favour of sacked BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma who reportedly made 'insulting' remarks against Prophet Muhammad.
Earlier, advocates tried to attack the two accused when they were produced in Udaipur court. The lawyers even chased the police vehicle carrying the two accused, according to a report in Times of India.
Meanwhile, Girija Shankar Mehta, President Udaipur Bar Association said the lawyers want the accused to be hanged. "No lawyer would represent them. Their act is not normal, it's an act of terrorism. They are trying to spread terror not just in society but to PM himself," Girija Shankar Mehta was quoted as saying by ANI.
