A 36-year-old man broke into Las Vegas airport in a clown mask and threatened with a fake bomb covered in fairy lights so that he could hijack a plane to fly to Area 51, the famous site of alien conspiracy theories.
Matthew Hancock told the cops to address him as "the chosen one". He drove a limousine through security fences at McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas in Nevada on 8 December.
Hancock breached inner and outer airport security barriers, spun vehicle wheels across an aircraft ramp and stopped near parked aircraft.
Witnesses told the cops that he got out of the vehicle, put on a clown mask, shouted he had a bomb and was going to detonate it.
Employees nearby fled and Hancock drove away before being stopped by the police.
Hancock told officers there was a shotgun and a “gasoline device” in the car, and that he intended to take a jet to fly to Area 51 to look for aliens, authorities said.
McCarran air traffic was “altered” during the incident.
An apparent oxygen tank with a pressure gauge, Christmas lights and metal objects attached that made it look like a bomb were found in the limousine, ABC News reported.
Hancock claimed that he was the driver who went viral on TikTok last month for driving a limo recklessly along the main strip in Las Vegas.
According to local reports, Hancock is being held at the Clark County Detention Center for trespassing, making a threat or providing false information about an act of terror, and dispersing a hoax substance.
