Jamshedpur: A 15-year-old girl along with her 37-year-old boyfriend attacked her parents to death with a hammer and a pressure cooker in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district after they stopped her from eloping with her boyfriend and marrying him, police said on Tuesday.
The incident took place in Manifit under the Telco police station area on Sunday late night. The body of the couple was spotted in a pool of blood at their house by their neighbours on Monday morning, reported news agency PTI.
Superintendent of Police (City) K Vijay Shankar, claiming that police cracked the in less than 24 hours, said that the teenage girl and her boyfriend were arrested from the latter’s rented house in Omnagar under Birsanagar police station area on Tuesday morning.
Police said that when the girl was about to elope from her house with her boyfriend on Sunday night to marry him, her parents woke up and her father (42) and mother (35) stopped them from leaving.
Later, the accused duo thrashed them with a hammer and a pressure cooker leading to their death, said police officials.
The girl then escaped with her boyfriend on his scooter and went to his rented house.
Police have recovered the hammer, blood-stained pressure cooker, and scooter. A case under relevant sections of the IPC, including 302 (murder), was registered against the girl and his boyfriend, added the officials.
Reports said, noticing that the main gate of the house was open from outside, the neighbours entered the premises and informed the police after spotting the bodies of the couple in a pool of blood on Monday morning. The incident triggered tension in the industrial town in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district, reported PTI.
