Gangtok, Sikkim: At least 22 girl students belonging to St. Xavier’s college in Jharkhand’s Ranchi were injured after their bus overturned in Sikkima's Gangtok on Tuesday.
According to the police, the students were on an excursion to Sikkim. When they were returning to Siliguri in West Bengal on their way to Ranchi, their bus overturned at 7th Mile in the Ranipool police station area, they said.
The injured students were admitted to the Central Referral Hospital (CRH) at Tadong, the police added.
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has said that he spoke with his Sikkim counterpart Prem Singh Tamang for adequate treatment of injured children.
"I've spoken with Sikkim CM. Adequate arrangements are being made for the medical treatment of children. I've directed RC to be ready to airlift the children. We are unable to airlift them right now due to inclement weather, so arrangements have been made there," the Jharkhand chief minister said in a tweet (roughly translated from Hindi).
