The Hindu calendar has significant dates aplenty. For instance, the Chaturthi Tithi (fourth day) during the Lunar fortnight is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. This month, Ravi Pradosh Vrat will be observed on June 26. Interestingly, the name of the vrat depends on the day it concurs with. For example, during this fortnight, Pradosh falls on a Sunday (Raviwar). Therefore, it will be called Ravi Pradosh.

The Trayodashi Tithi will remain in effect from 1:09 AM on June 26 and ends at 3:25 AM on June 27.

Perform Shiva Puja between 7:23 PM to 9:23 PM

On the Trayodashi Tithi and during Pradosh Kaal, devotees pay an ode to Mahadev (Lord Shiva) and celebrate his triumph over the demons. Thus, they express gratitude and hail the Lord of the Lords.

Interestingly, a legend associated with this important date specifies the significance of the Pradosh Vrat. According to an ancient text, Lord Shiva and his mount (vahana), Nandi (the bull), saved the Devas from the demons (Asuras).

The Devas visited Kailash (Lord Shiva's heavenly abode) during Pradosh Kaal to seek help and rid themselves of the Asuras. Therefore, they sought help from Mahadev and wanted him to punish those who created massive destruction in the three worlds and ruined peace.

Thus, Lord Shiva and Nandi fought a battle and defeated the Asuras to restore peace.

Hence, devotees observe the Trayodashi vrat and perform puja during Pradosh Kaal to seek Lord Shiva's blessings.
