Heavy rain lashes several parts of Chennai; many areas waterlogged

Chennai: Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, was inundated in numerous places as a result of the heavy downpour that hit the city on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, there was waterlogging in Anna Nagar, Thiruvanmiyur, Perungudi, West Mambalam, Villivakkam, Tambaram, Nungambakkam, Ashok Nagar, Eekaatuthangal, and OMR, which made driving difficult.
“Intense convective spells present over Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Ranipet districts are likely to cause moderate thunderstorm with lightning and intense rain spell at one or two places in these districts,” a bulletin from the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) read Wednesday.
The YMCA Nandanam weather station recorded 58mm of rainfall on Thursday, compared to 42mm at MRC Nagar, 35.5mm at Taramani, 29mm at Anna University, and 16mm at Meenambakkam.
Today will be pleasant with sporadic light to moderate rain, isolated thunderstorms, and lightning probable across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal region.
Over the districts of Vellore, Ranipet, Tirupattur, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, Chengalpattu, Tiruvannamalai, Villupuram, Cuddalore, and Kallakurichi in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, heavy rain is predicted to fall in isolated locations.
Day 2 (September 30): Over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal region, isolated thunderstorms with mild to moderate rain are expected to develop.
Day 3 (October 1) and Day 4 (October 2): Isolated areas of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and the Karaikal region are expected to see light to moderate rain.
The Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC) indicated on Wednesday that the following 48 hours are anticipated to have a majority of gloomy skies. Some locations are expected to have thunderstorms and lighting along with one or two bouts of moderate rain. 34 degrees Celsius is predicted to be the maximum temperature and 26 to 27 degrees Celsius is the lowest temperature.
