New Delhi: As his three-day-long police custody ended on June 4, the special cells of Delhi police produced Lawrence Bishnoi in front of the magistrate Umesh Kumar in the Patiala House Court in Delhi where he was sent to police custody for five more days.
Keeping in mind the heightened security concerns around him in the aftermath of Sidhu Moose Wala's murder, Bishnoi was brought to the court complex with massive security deployment.
The duty magistrate asked what the special cells did in the first round of police custody, the concerned special cells officers appraised the court that Bishnoi was taken to the areas nearby Delhi NCR such as Palwal, Sonipat and Bahadurgarh.
Special cell officers requested the magistrate for an extension of the police custody for five days in order to enable the investigation and allow them to take him to Jodhpur.
The case under which Bishnoi has been produced in the court doesn't relate to Moose Wala's killing, said the police and his counsel Vishal Chopra. However, when the magistrate asked the officers if there was any plan to take him to Punjab, the special cells denied such plans citing "sensitivity."
Special cell officers said that they have been able to nab three associates of Bishnoi namely Ranjit, Vijay and Shyam Singh, who was involved in the supply of arms in Delhi and nearby regions.
Police informed the court that Ranjit supplies arms from Uttarakhand and that there is a team in Uttarakhand to bring him back.
Police appraised court that in the first round of police custody, Bishnoi claimed that Shyam Singh is imprisoned under judicial custody in Jodhpur but then refuted the claim in court citing their own "sources."
Special cell officers argued that they needed custody for five more days to extract more details about Vijay and Shyam Singh.
Notably, Lawrence Bishnoi was imprisoned in the eight number cell of the Tihar Jail before the Special Cell of Delhi Police took his custody. It was rumoured that his recent custody by Delhi Police is related to his direct involvement and alleged social media confession by his gang members about killing Moose Wala to take "revenge" for killing of Vicky Middukhera.
