EXCL! Dahan actor Ankur Nayyar says OTT enhances creativity: 'How can one hashtag affect the thinking of...'

Ankur Nayyar has impressed us with his talent in various TV serials like Humse Hai Life, Ek Boond Ishq, Jhansi Ki Rani and many more. The actor who is well known for his versatility in the entertainment industry has hopped on to yet another out of the blue character this time. In his latest web series Dahan - Raakan ka Rahasya, Ankur plays the role of Sandeep who is an ornithologist (a person who study birds). He describes his character who has a lot of depth and patience due to his profession.

In an exclusive interview with Zoom TV Digital, Ankur revealed about working with Tisca Chopra and the sensitivity of audience regarding Indian mythology.

Tisca portrays an IAS official in the web series, which introduce a grim tale of mythology and superstition to the remote village of Shilaspura. The actor opened up on working with her and said, “She has singlehandedly carried the entire show on her shoulders. Tisca has worked on a lot of successful shows before and I believe she’s a brilliant actor. I have learnt a lot from her, especially her dedication for her character in this show. This is basically her story and all of us are a part of her life. The schedule was the toughest for her as compared to the other actors and she’s been on it. She looked ravishing in every scene.”

The story of Dahan - Raakan ka Rahasya revolves around the village of Shilaspura where people fear that if a mining project threatens the land's sacredness, a long-standing curse would be fulfilled, which may possibly result in the extinction of mankind from the earth.

When asked about the sensitivity of the audience regarding mythology and movies based on the same genre, Ankur stated, “I completely fail to understand how can a hashtag effect the thinking of 1.2 billion people in the country. I do not think so that I have seen any film in the past based on the hashtag. It was either the trailer was intriguing or there was nothing new that the film could offer me. I am sure that a lot of people still think the same way. These topics might be sensitive but what are we in this profession for. We can use such stories to enhance our creativity as well.”

Currently streaming on Disney Plus Hotstar, Dahan-Raakan ka Rahasya is a supernatural thriller with a conflict-filled narrative. The series, which premiered on September 16th, is unique in how it blends drama, action, and suspense.
