KEY HIGHLIGHTS
  • India will host Australia in the 2nd T20I on Friday (September 23)
  • The visiting side won the opening game to go 1-0 up
  • Jasprit Bumrah is set to make his comeback in the playing XI
With an eye on the series win, Australia will face India in the 2nd T20I of the three-match series in Nagpur today (September 23). With a win in the opening game, Australia are on the cusp of registering their second consecutive T20I series win over the Men in Blue at their home. For India, it's a must-win game and a defeat would mean that they would lose a home series before the all-important T20 World Cup.
Before the fixture, there was positive news for India as Jasprit Bumrah is all but set to make his comeback in the playing XI. The right-arm pacer was rested for the series opener. He is likely to replace local boy Umesh Yadav. Like other bowlers, Umesh also went for plenty of runs and had an economy rate of over 13.
India cannot make plenty of changes after just one defeat and the rest of the bowling line-up looks set to remain the same. The batsmen did their job to perfection and propelled the team to a big score of 208. There is nothing more that team management can ask for.
Australia might not tinker with the winning combination and the same set of players could be seen playing the Nagpur T20I.
India vs Australia 2nd T20I prediction
The below-par performance by the bowlers in Mohali surely isn't the right way to judge the players and India have a strong bowling unit. Should the bowlers back their batsmen, India can very well emerge at the top to level the series. The dew factor could play a part in the game and the team batting second will have a slight advantage. The toss is set to play a big role.
Going into the contest, Team India is likely to emerge victorious and level the series 1-1. The 3rd T20I will be played on September 25.
