Delhi: Two key members of interstate gang supplying illegal firearms in police net

In a major crackdown, two key members of an interstate gang were held by a team from the Delhi Police, Special Cell for supplying illegal arms. The cops recovered over 15 semi-automatic pistols from their possession.

New Delhi: In a major crackdown, two key members of an interstate gang were held by a team from the Delhi Police, Special Cell for supplying illegal arms. The cops recovered over 15 semi-automatic pistols from their possession. Mobile handsets and SIM cards used for the illegal arms supply trade have also been seized from them during the raid, India Today reported.
The accused were identified as Gagandeep Singh and Akashdeep Singh from Punjab. According to police, the firearms suppliers in Punjab were in touch with illegal firearms suppliers from Madhya Pradesh and procuring illegal firearms from them.
Based on a tip-off, a trap was laid and the two accused were apprehended while they reached the spot to deliver a huge consignment of illegal arms. A total of 15 illegal firearms were recovered from the two accused.
During interrogation, both the accused revealed that they were part of an illegal firearm supply syndicate. They further disclosed that they used to supply illegal weapons after procuring them from Deepak Barnala and Sohan Barnala of Sendhwa, Madhya Pradesh, India Today report further elaborated.
The accused revealed that Deepak Barnala and Sohan Barnala had been indulging in the supply of illegal arms for many years. They also said that they used to procure illegal pistols for Rs 12,000 to 15,000 per pistol and sell the same for Rs 25,000 to 30,000 per piece in Delhi and Punjab. A case was registered at the Special Cell police station, Delhi under different sections.
