Delhi: The Patiala House court in Delhi today extended the police custody of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi by five more days. Duty Magistrate Umesh Kumar of Patiala House court extended the police custody of Bishnoi.
He was earlier remanded to five days of police custody in an Arms Act case. The remand period ended today. Bishnoi has been facing trial in multiple cases including murder and extortion and lodged in jail since 2015.
"The Delhi Police didn't mention the Sidhu Singh Moosewala case in their remand application. But he was remanded to five more days of police custody," said advocate Vishal Chopra, the counsel of Bishnoi as reported by news agency IANS.
Police had sought the remand to investigate more details about the arms suppliers whose names came up during the interrogation of Lawrence Bishnoi. Lawrence Bishnoi has told the Delhi Police Special Cell about the hideout and names of the arms suppliers, who are based in Punjab, Haryana, Uttrakhand, and Rajasthan.
Police suspect these arms suppliers could be the ones who helped the killers of Sidhu Moose Wala-- one being headed by Ranjeet, a resident of Faridkot, another Vijay who hails from Haryana-Rajasthan Border and one more is Raka.
The Delhi Police said that they will take Bishnoi to Jodhpur and Ganga Nagar in Rajasthan for an investigation into the Arms Act case.
"Mukesh alias Puneet and Om alias Shakti and Harvinder of Jitender Gogi gang were held by us in April. They have told us that one Raka supplied them with illegal weapons. Rohit alias Moi and Dinesh Karala who are handling the Gogi gang had helped them in procuring arms. Efforts were made to trace the source of the weapon but so far no success," said a source as quoted by the news agency IANS.
Subsequently, police arrested Rohit alias Moi who during the interrogation revealed that he along with other leading factions of the gang had provided weapons to Mukesh, Shakti, and Harvinder through Raka after taking weapons from Lawrence Bishnoi.
An official said Bishnoi knows the actual source of weapons and he also knows the whereabouts of Raka in areas of Delhi, Haryana, UP, and Uttarakhand.
"We then arrested Bishnoi who was already in Tihar in another case. Bishnoi corroborated the disclosure statement made by accused Rohit and stated that he had supplied the weapons through Ranjeet who lives in Faridkot and Vijay who lives on Haryana-Rajasthan Border,” the official said.
Police teams were formed and they have been to multiple locations in Punjab, Rajasthan, and Uttarakhand in search of the co-accused. Bishnoi also disclosed that suspect Vijay brings arms and ammunition from Jodhpur, Rajasthan, the official further said.
