Bengaluru: The family of the 23-year-old acid attack survivor, who was discharged from St John’s Hospital in Bengaluru on Friday, has sought the help of the Karnataka government to continue to extend its support and help the victim with her plastic surgeries.
The woman had suffered 36 percent burn injuries and had undergone 27 surgeries. The doctors treating her meanwhile said that she can undergo further procedures only after her wounds heal three months later, reported The New Indian Express (TNIE).
Till date, her hospital bill came up to Rs 40 lakh and it was claimed through ESI. After her discharge, her parents are taking special care of her in a separate room at home and are restricting visitors to ensure that there is no infection.
In the meantime, she is recuperating and has rekindled her confidence. She has also started walking a little and is consuming some nutritious food as well.
The victim’s uncle Sundaresh told TNIE that one Nagesh splashed acid on the woman’s face near her workplace on April 28 for allegedly refusing his proposal to marry him. Nagesh has been arrested.
Earlier on August 9, the Karnataka Police submitted a 770-page charge sheet to the court in connection with the acid attack case three months back. Police have named 92 witnesses in the charge sheet that has been submitted to the 13th Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court. The officials have also submitted statements of two eyewitnesses taken under the Indian Penal Code Section 164, reported IANS.
Nagesh, who was waiting in an auto near her workplace in Bengaluru's Sunkadakatte, had chased and poured acid on her.
