Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan got relief from the Supreme Court in the stampede case In the year 2017, during the promotion of the film Raees. One person was killed and several people were injured in a stampede at Vadodara railway station in Gujarat. Congress leader Jitendra Solanki had filed a complaint in the local court regarding this.
According to reports, the Supreme Court panel headed by Justice Ajay Rastogi declined to overturn a Gujarat High Court decision from April 28, 2022, that dismissed a criminal case against him for allegedly starting a stampede at the Vadodara Railway Station in 2017 while promoting his movie Raees.
The actor was traveling from Mumbai to Delhi on a train with his production team to promote his film Raees. His train stopped at several stations on the way, in which the Dilwale actor promoted the film. The train also stopped in Vadodara, Gujarat and a crowd gathered there to get a glimpse of him.
Jitendra Madhubhai Solanki, the complainant, filed a private complaint against SRK before the Judicial Magistrate, First Class, Vadodara. He claimed that the actor’s presence at the Vadodara Railway Station and his throwing of T-shirts and smiley balls at the crowd gathered there led to the alleged stampede.
Likely, the High Court, in its order, had said that the actor was promoting his film with official permission. There were many reasons for the stampede. It would not be right to hold any one person responsible. The railway staff at the station, the police, and even anyone who was injured did not complain against him. This complaint was filed by a person who was not present there.
Jitendra had reached the Supreme Court against the order of the High Court, but Justices Ajay Rastogi and CT Ravikumar rejected his appeal.
