Udaipur: A curfew has been imposed in view of the gruesome murder of a Hindu tailor by two Muslim men in Udaipur's Dhanmondi area on Tuesday. The accused have been arrested. A curfew and Section 144 has been imposed in the Dhanmondi, Ghantaghar, Hathipol, Ambamata, Surajpol, Bhupalpura and Savina areas of the city for an indistinct period of time until further orders.
Notably, protests erupted in the city after the video of the killing and the chilling confession of the killers threatening PM Modi went viral on social media. It is being understood that that the victim was targeted in a premeditated murder over a social media post he made in support of suspended BJP leader Nupur Sharma a few days ago.
Meanwhile, the accused in the murder case, Mohammed Riyaz Akhtar and Mohammed Gos have been arrested, Rajasthan CM noted in a tweet. The accused are residents of the Surajpol area of Udaipur.
"Both the accused of the murder of a man in Udaipur arrested from Rajsamand. The investigation, in this case, will be done under the Case Officer Scheme and by ensuring a speedy investigation the criminals will be punished severely in the court," Ashok Gehlot tweeted.
