Is a face epilator the best way to treat facial hair? Here's what a dermatologist has to say

Due to the lockdown, most of us were forced to try different techniques to combat facial hair. From waxing to bleaching, we've tried it all. But one of the most popular options is a face epilator - here's all you need to know about it.
Epilator

Epilator

Epilator is a modern electric device that is used to remove hair. An epilator works similar to waxing, it removes hair by the roots. But an epilator doesn’t use any kind of wax. It plucks away the hair as we move the device over different parts of the body. Using an epilator one can get smoother skin, and the results may last longer than most other hair removal methods like shaving, depilatory creams, or tweezing. You can use an epilator if you want to remove shorter hair. Applying wax on short hair doesn't give any result because the wax can press the hair against the skin.
We spoke to Dr Ajay Rana about it and here's what he has to say...
But an epilator can keep the face smooth for at least 15 days to 30 days depending on the hair growth rate of the user. Epilator is a safe way to remove unwanted hair from the face. Some people may feel uncomfortable or painful at the initial stage of applying an epilator. New hair comes out finer & thinner, so next epilation will not hurt as much. Epilators don’t come too costly & they are wet/dry supported so the user can choose the preferred way & time of epilation. So, I will surely recommend using a face epilator.
Here are few things one can keep in mind while using a facial epilator:

●Exfoliate the skin before using an epilator. It helps to remove dead skin cells and can also prevent ingrown hairs.

●While using a face epilator, position the epilator at a 90-degree angle to the skin. Don’t press the device against the skin. Always hold it loosely against the skin. Always move the epilator on the face in the direction of hair growth.

●Always epilate against the hair growth so that they are easily grabbed by the tweezers.

●While epilating make sure the speed is set to low and your own speed is steady and slow.

●Try to use enough light while applying an epilator on the face, so you can spot fine hair.

●Moisturize your skin everytime after using a face epilator to reduce irritation.

Ensure to do a test patch and speak to a dermatologist if you see any bumps or experience any itching.
