Nupur Sharma gets relief from Supreme Court: Top developments from apex court hearing

The Supreme Court ordered 'no coercive action' against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma till the next hearing on August 10.
New Delhi: Former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma accused of allegedly making insulting remarks against Prophet Muhammad, has been granted relief by Supreme Court. The apex court directed police that no coercive steps be taken against her in the FIRs/complaints lodged against her in different police station across the country.

1.In a plea seeking clubbing of FIRs, the Supreme Court said 'no coercive action' be taken against suspended BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma till the next hearing on August 10.
2.The court further said that the same applies to any complaints or FIRs that may be registered in future against her.
3.The apex court bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and Pardiwala took note of one Salman Chishti's viral statement of killing the Nupur Sharma.
4.The court also noted that a man from Uttar Pradesh had threatened to behead Nupur.
5.Apex court also issues notice to the Centre and states where FIRs have been registered to explore the modality of giving her security from life threats.
6.The Supreme Court bench hearing Nupur's application to revive her withdrawn writ petition which was filed to club the multiple FIRs filed in different states against her. She had also sought a stay on arrest in the cases as interim relief.
7.Nupur Sharma had withdrawn her petition on July 1 after critical remarks by a vacation bench comprising Justices Surya Kant and JB Pardiwala against her comments. The bench said she "set the whole country on fire".
