Masks Mandatory: Delhi Government mandates face masks in all public places; Violators to pay fine of Rs 500

New Delhi: Due to an increase in Covid-19 cases in the city, the government of Delhi has made the decision to make it mandatory for people to wear face masks in public areas in an effort to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Anyone found to have violated the rule will be subject to a fine of Rs. 500.
Persons travelling together in private four-wheeler vehicles would not be subject to the fine under this notification's provision.
The national capital had earlier on Wednesday recorded a modest decrease in new Covid cases in the preceding 24 hours, down to 2,146 from the 2,495 reported the day before. However, 8 deaths were reported due to Covid-19.
Additionally, the city's Covid positive rate has increased to 17.83%, and there are currently 8,205 active cases, 5,549 of whom are being treated in home isolation.
