Casting couch is a dark reality of the entertainment industry. Many people often criticise Bollywood for the same. Let us tell you, many celebs from the industry have also opened up about their casting couch experience from the initial days of their careers.
Amidst all, actress Shama Sikander has some contradictory views about the casting couch that happens in Bollywood. She said that it is unfair to criticise Bollywood for it as it happens everywhere. Shama also revealed a casting couch experience that happened to her.
In an interview with Bollywood Life, Shama Sikander said that the industry has changed for good and nowadays, young producers are acting more professional and treat people respectfully. The Prem Aggan actress said, “They do not have the notion of sex for work. In the past, I have had producers tell me that they wanted to be friends with me. I was like, how can we be friends if we do not work together. I feel the whole concept of asking for sex in return for work is the lowest of low. I mean, you have to be a terribly insecure human being to do that. Some of these producers and makers were well-established names in the industry. It shows that you do not have an iota of confidence that you can win over a woman's heart in an organic manner. But casting couch is not limited to Bollywood alone. It happens everywhere.”
She also said that there are nice men in Bollywood as well. Hence, it is wrong to blame the industry. She added that evil exists in every person. Shama said, “One needs to address that devil that resides in your mind.”
Talking about Shama’s personal life, the actress got married to James Milliron in March 2022. She has acted in films such as Mann, Ansh, Basti, Dhoom Dadakka, Contract and so on.
