R Madhavan, on the sidelines of a promotional event for his upcoming film Dhokha - Round D Corner, reacted to the Enforcement Directorate chargesheet naming Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez as an accused. Extending support, the actor said, "I hope she gets out of trouble very soon."

Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez's name cropped up during the Enforcement Directorate's probe in Rs 200 crore extortion case against conman Sukesh Chandrashekar in 2021. The actress was questioned multiple times by ED after she stated that she had received expensive gifts from Sukesh. Earlier this year, the Kick actress' intimate pictures with the conman surfaced online.
In the latest development, the Enforcement Directorate's chargesheet mentioned her name as an accused. It was filed before a Delhi Court on Wednesday. The second supplementary prosecution complaint involving the multimillionaire conman has left everyone shocked.
At an event today, actor R Madhavan was asked about the controversy. Reacting to this, the Rocketry: The Namni Effect actor extended support to Jacqueline. "I hope she gets out of trouble very soon. I don't think this is affecting the image of the country. If fact, in our film fraternity, there have been lesser number of tax raids. Everyone is working with full honesty. I don't think it will affect the industry. Higher taxpayers are from this industry," he reportedly told the media.
Meanwhile, Jacqueline is yet to release an official statement.
This is the first time she has been named as an accused by ED. The previous chargesheet only mentioned the detail of the statement recorded by her. As per news agency ANI, it stated that "during the investigation, statements of Jacqueline Fernandez were recorded on 30.08.2021 and 20.10.2021 Jacqueline Fernandez stated she received gifts viz. 3 designer bags from Gucci, Chanel, 2 Gucci outfits for gym wear. A pair of Louis Vuitton shoes. 2 pairs of diamond earrings and a bracelet of multi-colored stones. 2 Hermes bracelets. She also received a Mini Cooper which she returned."
Apart from Jacqueline, actress Nora Fatehi's statements were also recorded under section 50 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
