Kolkata: West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday hit out at BJP's 'Nabanna Chalo' rally against the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government and alleged that the saffron party brought in people from other states with bombs and guns to carry out violence in the state.
Talking about the violence that broke out in Kolkata and Howrah yesterday during the BJP's rally, she said that despite being brutally assaulted, West Bengal Police did not resort to firing or even lathicharge during the protests.
"Many policemen were injured yesterday. Politics and anti-social activities cannot go hand-in-hand. Law will take its course for arson and attacks on cops," she warned.
The West Bengal CM further alleged that in the name of protests, goons were brought in from other states with bombs and guns. "We have no problem with peaceful protests but hooliganism will not be tolerated," she added.

While the BJP alleged that the Mamata Banerjee government does not want to give space to opposition parties, the TMC described the saffron camp workers as "hooligans".
Kolkata Police had earlier detained Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari and MP Locket Chatterjee from Hastings in Kolkata, ahead of its Nabanna Chalo Abhiyan.
