Agra: Hindu outfits expressed outrage on Tuesday after a tourist from Rajasthan's Jaipur carrying a Lord Krishna idol was denied entry to the Taj Mahal in Uttar Pradesh's Agra.
As a result of the incident, the outfits have threatened to launch protests if action is not taken against those who stopped the tourist.
The tourist was reportedly stopped at Taj Mahal's Western Gate, which is its main entrance.
An Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) official, Agra circle, said he would speak with Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officials about the matter.
The tourist, identified as Gautam, said an official cited security reasons for not letting him enter the Taj Mahal with the idol.
"Laddu Gopal is like a family member and I always carry him. I have visited Mathura and Vrindavan with the Lord. But here they asked me to enter without God's idol," said Gautam.
Conservation Assistant (CA) at Taj Mahal, Prince Vajpayee, said: "I too have got a video in this regard. But I have no information whether the incident was on Monday or some other day. Will enquire about the incident from the CISF.
"I will ask any devout shopkeeper to keep the idol of the Lord while we visit the monument."
