BYD enters the India Book of Records for the maximum distance covered in an electric vehicle with its e6 premium MPV. The car covered a total distance of 2203 km from Mumbai to Delhi in six days, covering 9 cities across 4 states, passing eco-sensitive zones around National Parks along the way. This was part of the company’s ‘Sustainable Drive for a Sustainable India’ initiative. BYD has been operational in India in the B2B segment, and up until now, the company has completed 47,957,202 km across India together with its partners, equivalent to 10,883 round trip from Mumbai to Delhi.
The company had launched the e6 in 2021. It is the first and only model from the company in India to equip BYD’s Blade Battery technology, which was launched in 2020. It is regarded as the world’s first power battery technology that features high levels of integration and safety, along with long range, and enduring longevity.

The e6 equips is powered by a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, which has improved volumetric energy density of 50%. This has been established by the fact after it successfully passed the nail penetration test in the most rigorous way to test the thermal runaway of batteries. Coupled with the fact that the e6 is based on the BYD e-platform, the electric components of which reduces weight, and optimizes efficiency, the MPV ensures a premium experience.
Speaking on the occasion of achieving this feat, was the Head of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business in BYD India, Mr. Sanjay Gopalkrishnan. He said, “We envisaged the drive to create awareness of sustainability and EV adoption under the “Sustainable Drive for a Sustainable India” initiative. We are proud to highlight that our premium electric MPV saved 413 kg of carbon emmission on the journey, a new benchmark set by an EV, leading to its entry into the India Book of Records.”
“With Charge Zone as our electric charging partner, the drive covered 2203 km seamlessly with charging points across national highways. The drive has proven that BYD India’s all-new e6 with the Blade Battery is a trusted vehicle in safety, comfort, driveability, and a long-range on a single charge,” he further added.
