Sidhu Moose Wala murder: Absconding gangster Sachin Bishnoi detained from Azerbaijan

Gangster Sachin Bishnoi had earlier claimed responsibility for the killing of Moose Wala near his native village in the Mansa district of Punjab on May 29.
Punjab/Azerbaijan: In a major breakthrough in the murder of Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moose Wala, Sachin Thapan Bishnoi, an aide of gangsters Lawrence Bishnoi and Goldy Brar, has been detained by the local police in Azerbaijan, said Punjab Police.
He had moved out of India with the fake name of Tilak Raj Toteja. His passport was made from an address at Sangam Vihar in Delhi. He went to the passport office in Delhi for the verification procedures, said reports.
His original passport mentions his name as Sachin Thapan Bishnoi, a resident of the Fazilka district in Punjab. He went for the verification procedure. Bishnoi was detained by the Azerbaijan Police following inputs passed by the police department in India.
Meanwhile, India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) will approach the Azerbaijan government and police department for the repatriation of Bishnoi, added reports.
The Mansa Police has already sent a copy of the charge sheet to the Home Department and made all the preparations to bring the accused from the foreign country to Mansa. All the documentation-related works in connection with the case have been taken up from today.
Mansa Police said though the repatriation process might take time, efforts are on to bring the accused Sachin Thapan to Mansa at the earliest.
Gangster Sachin Bishnoi had earlier claimed responsibility for the killing of Moose Wala near his native village in the Mansa district of Punjab on May 29 and had remained absconding since then.
On August 26, the Punjab Police filed an 1850-page charge sheet against 24 people, including jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, in Sidhu Moose Wala's murder case.
Apart from Lawrence Bishnoi, the prominent people who have been named in the challan include Satwinder Singh alias Goldie Brar, Jaggu Bhagwanpuria, Sachin Thapan Bishnoi, Anmol Bishnoi, Lipin Nehra along with over a dozen others.
Mansa Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Gaurav Toora while presenting the challan in the court said that a total of 36 people had been named in the FIR. However, so far, the challan was produced in the name of 24 people only.
Supplementary challan can also be produced for more culprits in the coming days, the SSP said.
It was revealed that a total of 20 people have been arrested so far, while two gangsters named Jagroop Singh Roopa and Manpreet Singh alias Mannu Kussac were killed in a police encounter in Bhakhna village in Amritsar on July 21. A six-member SIT, headed by ADGP Parmod Ban had been formed to investigate the murder case.
