Punjab: Six-year-old child killed as kite string slashes his throat in Ludhiana

Police have filed an FIR against unknown persons at Sadar Police station under section 354A ( causing death by negligence) based on a complaint filed by victim's father.

Ludhiana: In a tragic incident reported from Ludhiana district of Punjab, a boy was killed after a kite string slashed his throat while he was riding on a scooter with his parents. The incident took place near Gill Canal bridge on Tuesday.
The victim was immediately rushed to hospital but was declared brought dead. The deceased has been identified as Daksh Giri, who was a resident of Isha Nagar.
An FIR has been filed against unidentified persons at Sadar Police station under sections of negligence, according to a report in Times of India.
In his complaint to police, the boy's father Dhruv said he was commuting along with his family to Dugri on his scooter when the kite slashed Daksh's throat.
Daksh was standing on the foot mat of the scooter while his mother was riding pillion. As the vehicle reached Gill canal bridge, a banned kite string made of plastic entangled in Daksh's neck and subsequently slit his throat.
A case under Sections 304A (causing death by negligence) of Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been filed at Sadar police station, said SHO inspector Gurpreet Singh.
Several incidents of Chinese kite string killing people have been reported in the past across the country.
In a similar incident reported on Sunday, a 26-year-old businessman died after his throat was slit with Chinese manjha at Nathu Colony flyover at Mansarovar Park in Shahdara area of Delhi.
The deceased was identified as Abhishek Kumar, who lived with his family in Jyoti Colony. He was unmarried and ran a tent business.
