Pune Metro to be extended between Vanaz and Chandni Chowk

The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has recently submitted the project report regarding the extension of the Pune Metro between Vanaz and Chandini Chowk to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Pune: The Pune Metro be extended between Vanaz and Chandni Chowk. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (Maha-Metro) has recently submitted the project report regarding the same to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).
The extension work of the metro is said to be done at an estimated cost of Rs 3,500 crores.
Moreover, an underground metro between Swargate and Katraj will be comissioned. The proposal for the project which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 7,000 crores has been sent to the Maharashtra state government for approval.
About 6 km metro line between Rangehills and Swargate will be underground. The work of both the tunnels of this route is going on rapidly. Rail tracks are being laid and a signal system will be soon installed on the line.
The underground metro will be operational once the Railway Safety Board approves it. Maha-Metro has clarified that the work of the subway metro line will be completed by the end of March next year.
The Pune Metro rail was inaugurated from Vanaz station to Garware College in March and since then, citizens have been hoping that the service would be extended to longer distances.
