Dehradun: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami informed Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) about the actions that were being taken regarding the brutal murder of Ankita Bhandari. The Uttarakhand CM also said that "the culprits wouldn't be spared under any circumstances."
The Uttarakhand Governor expressed his condolences to the bereaved family and condoled the heinous crime, news agency ANI reported.
A statement by the Raj Bhawan mentioned that CM Dhami and the Governor "held a detailed discussion on the development plans of the state, law and order and the action taken in relation to irregular appointments in the Vidhan Sabha."
The 19-year-old receptionist's family refused to perform her final rites until they had the definitive post-mortem reports. She was allegedly murdered on Sunday by the son of a BJP leader.
The preliminary post-mortem reports that stated Ankita drowned have been challenged by her father and brother, who have asked that her funeral will be postponed until they receive the full post-mortem report.
"I am not satisfied with the provisional post-mortem report. Until we get the final detailed report, we will not perform her last rites. We also want her case to be taken to the fast-track court to ensure speedy justice," Ankita’s father Virendra Singh Bhandari said.
"I have not received the final reports yet. The provisional report suggests that she was beaten up and then thrown into the river. Therefore, we are awaiting the final report. We will perform the last rites after the reports come," the father of the deceased added.
