Ridesharing company Uber has revealed some of the most common and unique items left behind by forgetful passengers in their cabs in the “Lost and Found Index” it released Friday.
Some of the most commonly forgotten items on what is Uber US’ sixth annual Lost and Found Index include phones, keys and wallets (a recurring entry over the years), glasses, IDs, headphones and cameras.
However, while you’d expect people to hold on to these essentials, one doesn’t simply leave behind a brown tortoise in their driver’s vehicle either. Uber also shared a list of the 50 most “unique” items reported lost by riders. This bizarre array of random and unexpected belongings found in taxis includes: 40 chicken nuggets, a metal leg, a Billie Eilish ukulele, “supreme underwear”, a bucket of slime, an "It's boba time" apron, ball gag and stethoscope and someone’s grandma’s teeth.
What’s more, it’s not just a simple list of Lost and Found items for you to read and forget. Uber provides some incredible analysis of its riders’ forgetfulness and it’s remarkably specific.
The report found that people were most likely to forget their glasses and chargers on Mondays while groceries and laptops accounted for the biggest share of lost items on Thursdays.
Over the weekend, passengers primarily forgot clothing, ID and their keys on Saturdays and were most likely to leave behind phones, wallets, makeup and jewellery on Sundays. American riders also collectively tend to be most forgetful on these two days.
5 pm was the most forgetful time of the day, Uber said.
