The NIA is probing the Kanhaiya Lal killing case in Udaipur

Udaipur: The investigating agency has found ten Pakistani numbers from the phones of Riyaz Attari and Gous Mohammad - killers of Kanhaiya Lal. Kanhaiya Lal was killed on June 28 for allegedly forwarding a social media post backing Nupur Sharma. The killers of Lal recorded the beheading on video and later posted it on social media.
Times Now had earlier reported that the killers' handlers in Pakistan were instructing them to 'do something big'. They had also ordered the killers to carry out ISIS-like beheading in response to insult to Prophet Muhammad. In the initial days of the probe, Pakistan-based Dawat-e-Islami's role had come into the light.
Sources told Times Now that this Islamic organization had trained over three dozen people and given them online training. They were given beheading training on WhatsApp.
The agency probing the case has found ten Pakistani contact numbers from the phones of Attari and Mohammad. The agency is also suspected that the organisation was also trying to sell objectionable religious books in Ajmer. Both the killers used to take books from here and distribute them to people. For this, one book seller was given Rs 300-400 per day.
The NIA on Tuesday questioned six people including members from the Anjuman Committee.
The central agency conducted raids at nine locations in Udaipuron Tuesday. During the searches at the premises of accused and suspects in the case, the NIA seized mobile phones, laptop and SIM cards and other incriminating materials.
The NIA last week arrested the 7th accused - Farhad Mohammad Sheikh, 31 - in the case. The agency said Farhad was a close criminal associate of one of the main killers, Riyaz Attari, and was an active part of the conspiracy to kill Kanhaiya Lal.
