Newly-launched Mumbai-Gandhinagar Vande Bharat Express collides with buffaloes, suffers minor damage

Ahmedabad: The Vande Bharat Express, running between Mumbai Central and Gandhinagar Capital, suffered minor damage when some buffaloes collided with the train on Thursday.
The incident took place at 11:15 am when some buffaloes came infront of the moving train between Batwa and Maninagar stations.
The engine of the Vande Bharat Express was damaged which was repaired by the personnel of the Railways.
No one was injured in the incident.
The Vande Bharat Express left for its Mumbai Central from Gandhinagar Capital station on time.
The Western Railway (WR) zone further reduced the travelling time of the Vande Bharat Express train from October 5. The train will arrive 20 minutes early at Mumbai Central from Gandhinagar.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the new and upgraded version of Vande Bharat Express between Gandhinagar Capital and Mumbai Central on September 30, 2022.
The Ministry of Railways has said that the Vande Bharat Express can run up to a maximum speed of 160 kmph and has travel classes like Shatabdi Train but with better facilities.
The new Gandhinagar Capital- Mumbai Central Vande Bharat Express offers health conscious low calorie millet rich regional menu. The customised menu for Vande Bharat Train is in line with the theme of ensuing year 2023 to be celebrated world over as the International Year of Millets.
In keeping with the PM Modi's vision of 'Make in India', the major systems of the Vande Bharat Express have been designed and built in India.
"Impact of this train, matching global standards of performance, safety and passenger comfort and yet costing less than half of global prices, has the potential to be a game changer in the global rail business," the Railways have said.
The train is India's first semi highspeed train equipped with world class passenger amenities.
