Melasma to age spots, sun exposure without sunscreen is doing no good to us. But age spots, the early signs of aging are stubborn, troubling, and annoying. But age spots aren't just specific to sun exposure. Sun exposure speeds the early signs of aging and age spots are just that.
Age spots are flat marks that are developed on the skin due to over-exposure to sun. These spots appear in different shades such as black, tan or brown. Age spots are also known as liver spots or solar lentiginous and mostly they are harmless. Age spots generally occur in people with light skin tone & over the age of 50. But it may also appear in children & young adults if they spend a lot of time under the sun.
The body parts that are more exposed to sun have the most chances to develop age spots such as Face, Neck, Back of hands, Shoulders, Top of the feet, etc. With the problem being this common, the solutions and tips to keep it at bay are easy too! Here are a few tips to prevent age spots and a few home remedies to reduce the affect of it.

EASY WAYS TO PREVENT AGE SPOTS :
-Try avoiding to be in sun between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. as the sun rays are most intense during these hours.
-It is recommended to wear sunscreen every day with SPF 30 OR 50. The sunscreen should contain both UVA and UVB protection. It is important to apply sunscreen at least 30 minutes before you will be exposed to sun. Also, try to reapply every 2 hours, and more often if swimming or perspiring.
-In case you are only travelling in sun and not spending enough time, SPF 30 is suggested, but if you are spending 3-4 hours under the sun such as in Mountains or beach or work place it is necessary to use SPF 50 to protect your skin completely.
-It is suggested to wear sun-protective clothing, or clothes that properly cover your skin such as pants with long-sleeved shirts, hat, gloves, etc. This will help protecting your skin from UV rays.
REDUCE AGE SPOTS :
-Lemon Juice: Lemon juice is considered to be one of the best solutions to reduce age spots. Lemon juice consists of citric acid and high amount of antioxidants that helps to fade tan, thus reducing age spots.
-Apple Cider Vinegar: Apple cider vinegar is also a great ingredient that can be used for lightening age spots. It consists of a high amount of natural alpha hydroxyl acids and helps removing dead cells and rejuvenates skin.
-Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera juice or gel is also another good solution to treat age spots. It helps diminishing dark spots and clear marks effectively. Aloe Vera consists of active compounds that helps controlling aging of skin cells and induce growth of new cells.
-Cucumber Juice: Cucumber juice also has bleaching effect and reduces age spots. Cucumber consists of organic compounds and natural acids that help reducing pigmentation and clear spots.
