A cat named Fenrir Antares Powers has officially been recognised by the Guinness Book of World Records as the tallest living domestic cat. The cat belonging to the Savannah breed lives with Dr William John Powers in Farmington Hills, Michigan, USA. The feline as of January 29, 2021, measures a shocking 47.83 cm (18.83 inches).
Fenrir belongs to a breed crossed between a domestic cat and a serval. The latter breed is a medium-sized African cat with large ears. Meanwhile, the feline's grandfather was also a tall serval.
“Despite being a descendant of a wild feline, Fenrir is exceptionally tall for his breed, standing one inch taller than average-sized Savannah cats, which typically measure between 14 and 17 inches tall," read the website. According to experts, Fenrir is exceptionally tall compared to other Savannah-bred cats. The feline is an inch taller than average-sized Savannah cats.
Speaking of the special cat, Fenrir's owner stated, "Sometimes people see him and think he’s a small panther, a puma, or an ocelot."
Apart from Fenrir, another one from his family also holds a similar title. Fenrir’s sibling, Arcturus, was awarded the same title in 2016. He measured an astonishing 19.05 inches at the time. Unfortunately, the cat is no more. It was killed in a house fire, said Dr William.
Though Arcturus is no more, he still holds the title of the tallest domestic cat in history.
Dr William is very proud of his cats. Speaking to Guinness officials, he stated, "For someone so obsessed with their cats to have not one, not two, but four Guinness World Records title-holding animals in one lifetime is a bit surreal isn’t it."
