Sick of rooster's repeated crowing, couple takes legal action against owner

Friedrich-Wilhelm K. and his wife Jutt said 'Magda' the rooster's continuous crowing tantamounts to 'torture' as it begins at 8 in the morning and goes on all day. For this annoying reason, they have now decided to take the owner of the bird to court in a bid to end the crowing once and for all.

A rude awakening from a deep slumber by the repeated crowing of a rooster - It has happened to all of us at least once, maybe more. You may have thought of stealing or even killing the rooster to get your early morning sleep. But have you ever thought of suing your neighbour who owns the rooster? Probably not.
But this German couple is doing exactly that after becoming sick of a neighbour's cockerel who they say crows 200 times a day.

"We can't use the garden and we can't open any windows. He doesn't start until 8 am because he is locked up at night but then he crows 100 to 200 times throughout the day. It's unbearable," Fredrich-Wilhelm told German television.
Friedrich-Wilhelm said they aren't the only ones who have suffered in the area due to the crowing. Another neighbour moved out after growing sick of the noise, he said.
However, Magda's owner has said in his defence that it's essential for him to keep the rooster to ensure his hens stay in line.
"The hens need the rooster, otherwise they would pluck each other," said the owner was quoted as saying by Mail Online.
The two parties are set to face in Lemgo District Court.
