A new day brings a new record for the K-Pop girl group Blackpink and their latest album. Ever since the release of their second studio album, Born Pink, the ladies have been on a record-breaking spree.
Since they made a comeback after nearly two years, it is only understood that BLINKs are more excited than ever. Their thrill is evident in the way the album is performing on local and international charts.
Firstly, let us backtrack a bit for those who may not be aware. Well, Blackpink dropped their highly awaited album, Born Pink on Sept 16 along with the music video for the title track, Shut Down. Since the release, every single day brings a new record for this YG Entertainment group.
Now the latest addition to it comes on the UK charts. As per details shared recently, it was announced that Born Pink attained the No.1 position on the UK official chart. They left behind artists like Suede and Rina Sawayama to mark their spot.
With this, they have now become the first K-pop girl group to top the charts. They are actually the first girl group to reach No. 1 in roughly six years, as before them Little Mix did so in 2016. Many will know that the UK charts are considered on par with the Billboard charts. It is the UK equivalent of it.
On the other hand, on Sept 23, Hanteo Chart revealed that Born Pink has sold an impressive total of 1,542,950 copies in the first week of its release (September 16 to 22) breaking the record for highest first-week sales by any female artist in Hanteo history.
Well, we suppose congratulatory messages are in order and not just to Blackpink but to their fandom as well. Meanwhile, the group is all set to embark on their world tour titled, Born Pink, in October, this year.
